The mission of Knowlton Dental Associates is to provide the highest quality dental care to our patients and the communities we serve. We also strive to improve and enhance our services and patient care on an ongoing basis.
Due to COVID-19, We are currently open Monday through Friday 9am to 2pm to both see emergency patients directly and provide direct care via telemedicine.
**AS ALWAYS, we are on-call and available for emergency visits, after hours and over the weekend should the need arise. Please call 717-367-1560 and leave a message and a staff member will return your call**
The challenges presented by the current COVID-19 crisis presents an opportunity for our practice and our patients to utilize the current technology to improve and enhance our care through telemedicine services. Recent changes to commercial insurance restrictions have been lifted, which allows us to provide these services at this time.
What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine is a service delivery model that delivers healthcare services through a two-way, real-time interactive video-audio communication for the purpose of evaluation, diagnosis, consultation, or treatment.
Telemedicine or Teledentistry is meant to compliment and, in some cases, replace the need for face-to-face care allowing our patients to seek and receive needed care without coming into the physical office by leveraging commonly available technology.
An important message about choosing a telemedicine provider to work with… we cannot emphasize enough the importance and value of choosing an established healthcare provider that primarily see patients in-person, but offer telemedicine options when in-person appointments are simply not possible, advisable or necessary.
What technology is used for telemedicine and televisits?
The following platforms are appropriate for receiving care:
- Skype
- Microsoft Teams
- Updox
- VSee
- Zoom for Healthcare
- Google G Suite Hangouts Meet
- Cisco Webex Meetings/Webex Teams
- GoToMeeting
- Facetime
We will NOT conduct telemedicine visits using Facebook Live, Twitch, TikTok, or similar public-facing video communication applications.
We can also provide telemedicine utilizing audio (Mobile and landline) exclusively although this is not optimal.
How do I make a telemedicine appointment (aka a televisit)?
As always, our patients can reach out to our practice where their questions and issues will be addressed by our trained and knowledgeable staff. As with any contact with our office, if physician care is required our staff will schedule either a telemedicine or office-based appointment.
These telecommunication encounters will be scheduled by our front desk staff. Please be patient when calling our office as we are operating with a limited staff to ensure our continued capability to serve you. Our goal is to remain open so any and all services that require face to face care will be available to our patients and the community we serve.
