U.S. Women’s Field Hockey Team is going to Rio for the Olympics and they tapped Dr. Knowlton to help protect their teeth. Knowlton Dental Associates has been providing dentistry to athletes from high school and Elizabethtown College teams for over 30 years.

Dr. Knowlton is an expert in sports mouth guards and donates his services to the team for free. Most mouthguards worn by athletes – usually the “boil and bite” kind – don’t provide much protection, according to Dr. Knowlton. “All it does is give the athlete a false sense of security,” he said. “They don’t stay in the mouth, and the athletes can’t really breathe very well. Most spend the majority of time chewing them like Stephen Curry,” the NBA basketball star.
