When should you replace your worn-out, frazzled and germy toothbrush? You should do it every 3 months. But most people either forget or don’t want to get rid of something that still “works good”. Plus, brushes clog up landfills and end up littering nature – so it’s time to re-purpose, recycle and give that brush a whole new life!.
Here are 5 clever ideas you use to put that old toothbrush back into good use, and improve your oral care at the same time!
- Got kids? Let them summon their inner Da Vinci and create a masterpiece with some paint and your old toothbrush.
- Remove the bristles and viola! Instant small plant stakes.
- Scrub oily areas on your face with your toothbrush. The bristles are perfect for removing embedded dirt and oil that clogs pores.
- Old toothbrushes are great for spot-cleaning just about anything, but they’re especially good at getting the grime off of a fish tank
- Use it on your dog’s teeth. No dog? Use it to brush the fur on your pet hamster. No furry critters? Use it to scratch that itch you can never quite get at on the center of your back. (Just make sure no one is around for that one!)
- BONUS IDEA 1: Dab a bit of Vaseline on the bristles and comb your eyelashes and you get instant glamour! Got dry, flaky lips? Slough away those flakes by using a toothbrush on your lips.
- BONUS IDEA 2: Notice a few gray hairs sprouting from your hairline this morning? Old toothbrushes were made for touch-up dye jobs – even works for dyeing your eyebrows, too!
Good luck and happy recycling!
